Reps Order AGF to Submit Detailed N2.4 Trillion Contractor Payment Report

The House of Representatives orders the Accountant-General to provide full details of payments from the N2.4 trillion project fund.

Lawmakers also warn contractors against incomplete or fraudulent work before receiving payments.

The House of Representatives has instructed the Accountant-General of the Federation (AGF), Shamseldeen Ogunjimi, to submit a comprehensive spreadsheet detailing all contractor payments tied to the N2.4 trillion approved for government projects.

Lawmakers issued the directive after the Office of the Accountant-General confirmed that the funds had already been earmarked for disbursement.

Deputy Speaker Benjamin Kalu gave the order during a meeting with the Association of Indigenous Contractors of Nigeria in Abuja. The session came on the heels of protests over delayed payments, which prompted a partial 25 percent settlement in September.

The House further cautioned contractors to verify that all projects were properly executed, warning that payments for incomplete or fictitious work would not be tolerated.

In a related development, Speaker Abbas Tajudeen has emphasized the importance of deeper parliamentary diplomacy between Nigeria and Cuba. Speaking in Abuja while receiving a Cuban delegation led by Fernando González Llort, Tajudeen represented by Deputy Speaker Kalu called for concrete outcomes such as signed memoranda of understanding, ratified agreements, and adequately funded programmes.

He highlighted the need for stronger cooperation in health care, education, research, investment, and technology transfer. Cuban Ambassador Miriam Morales Palmer and González Llort both lauded the existing partnership and pledged enhanced collaboration.
