The Osun State University (UNIOSUN) College of Education, Ipetu-Ijesa Campus, has formally inducted 147 new educators into the Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN) at a ceremony held in the Multipurpose Hall located at the main campus of the university in Osogbo..
This year’s induction, themed “Transforming Teaching into Enterprise: The Role of Generative AI,” encouraged graduates to adopt digital tools and innovation as a means to enhance teaching and learning in Nigeria.
Provost of the College, Professor Florence Adeoti Yusuf, described the event as not just the culmination of academic study but the beginning of a lifelong mission to shape minds and inspire future generations.
She highlighted the role of Generative AI as a “tireless assistant and creative partner”, saying it can transform teaching from a traditional craft into a dynamic enterprise.
Vice-Chancellor, Professor Clement Odunayo Adebooye, represented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic, Research, Innovation and Partnership), reaffirmed UNIOSUN’s commitment to academic excellence and innovation.
The new teachers were presented with their TRCN certificates by Mrs. Mary Anekwe, the Council’s representative. Congratulatory messages also came from principals and head teachers across Osun State.
Guest speaker, Dr. Segun Oduyebo, charged the inductees to see themselves as “CEOs of their classrooms” and innovators within Nigeria’s education sector.
