Cardi B Shuts Down Rumors She Was Signed to Replace Nicki Minaj
Cardi B has denied claims that she entered the music industry to replace another artist.
Speaking on Call Her Daddy, she said she simply wanted to become famous doing what she loves.
Cardi B has addressed one of the biggest rumors that she entered the music industry to take over another artist’s career, widely believed to refer to Nicki Minaj.

Speaking on Wednesday’s episode of Call Her Daddy, the Grammy-winning rapper said: “People have made this whole story that I came in the industry to like take over somebody’s career. But it’s like, I never thought that. I just wanted to become famous at what I like to do.”
She continued, “This is what I was destined for. I was destined to become this, no matter who signed me, no matter what. I was going to be famous and I was going to be a rapper.”
Cardi also dismissed the idea of a secret agenda behind her rise, saying disagreements in the industry often happen naturally. “Sometimes people just don’t get along with each other… It’s nothing more than just people didn’t get along with each other and that’s just that, but I’m so done with that.”
