Lagos Gives Computer Village Traders 18 Months to Relocate to Katangowa Market
Lagos State has given Computer Village traders 18 months to relocate to Katangowa market.
Officials say the new 15-hectare site offers modern facilities to support their businesses.
The Lagos State Government has given traders at Ikeja’s Computer Village 18 months to relocate to a new market complex at Katangowa in the Agbado/Oke-Odo Local Council Development Area.

Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development, Gbolahan Oki, announced the deadline during a stakeholders’ meeting with market leaders on Tuesday, September 23. He urged the traders to work with the government to ensure the move is successful, stressing that the project must be completed within the set timeframe.
According to Oki, the Katangowa site spans 15 hectares and has been equipped with facilities designed to support commercial activity. He explained that the relocation plan, first introduced in 2006, had been delayed due to slow infrastructure development but was now ready to proceed.
He also noted that the current site in Ikeja was originally designated for residential use and had evolved into a commercial hub without official approval. The stakeholders’ meeting, he said, reflects Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s commitment to inclusive governance and the welfare of residents.
Oki added that Katangowa has been selected as the dedicated location for activities linked to the market and is strategically positioned close to materials and services traders need to run their businesses effectively.
