The “African Giant” star made the remark during a conversation with tennis legend Roger Federer. He explained that his grandfather, Benson Idonije, who was Fela’s first manager, gave him one of Fela’s albums, which became a major part of his formative years. “Well Fela, Fela was a big influence on me,” Burna Boy said.

He also recalled that the first album he ever owned was an R&B record by Joe, which he received as a gift for his 10th birthday. He added that Lil Wayne’s “Tha Carter III” and Tupac’s “Makaveli” albums were also popular with him growing up. But when Federer asked which album had the biggest impact on him, Burna Boy replied: “Honestly, none.”
