Ibadan Court Grants Bail to Woman Accused of Threatening Ex-Husband
A 38-year-old woman appeared in an Ibadan court accused of threatening her ex-husband’s life.
Police alleged she hired attackers and carried acid to harm him during the dispute.
A 38-year-old woman, Temitayo Adefioye, appeared before an Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court in Ibadan on Thursday over allegations that she threatened to kill her former husband.
Adefioye, whose residential address was not given, is facing charges of assault, issuing death threats, and behavior likely to cause a breach of the peace.
Police prosecutor Inspector Olagoke Adegbenro told the court that the incident occurred on August 13 at Badeku in Ibadan. He alleged that Adefioye arranged for hired men to attack her ex-husband, Akintomide Oladotun, and also took acid and petrol to his residence with the intent to harm him.
The prosecutor further said that Adefioye repeatedly sent threatening messages to her former spouse, acts which he described as dangerous and capable of disturbing public order.
According to Adegbenro, the alleged offences violate Sections 351, 86 and 249(d) of the Oyo State Criminal Code, 2000.
Presiding magistrate Olasinmibo Sanusi-Zubair granted the defendant bail in the sum of ₦100,000 with two sureties in the same amount. The court ordered that the sureties must be blood relatives of Adefioye.
The matter was adjourned until December 9 for further hearing.
