Delta Police Probe Killing of Pastor in Ukwuani Local Government Area
Delta Police have begun investigating the brutal killing and beheading of Pastor Oputeh Monday in Umuebu.
Officials say security patrols are intensified as detectives search for the attackers behind the crime.
The Delta State Police Command has launched an investigation into the killing of Pastor Oputeh Monday, who was reportedly murdered and beheaded by unidentified attackers in Umuebu community, Ukwuani Local Government Area.

The 59-year-old pastor was said to have gone to his farm early on Saturday, September 27, 2025, along the Amai–Umuebu farm road, instructing his family to bring him a motorcycle later in the day.
According to the deceased’s son, 26-year-old Oputeh Joshua, he and other family members were on their way to meet him when they heard gunfire. They rushed into the bush and found his father’s lifeless body without his head.
Police sources told security analyst Zagazola Makama that detectives from Obiaruku Division visited the crime scene and moved the remains to Medisar Mortuary in Obiaruku for preservation and an autopsy.
The Command said a preliminary investigation is underway and that security patrols have been intensified in the area to reassure residents and gather more intelligence on the perpetrators.
