EPL: Wayne Rooney Says Man Utd Is Broken and Needs Change

Wayne Rooney has slammed Manchester United as “broken,” questioning manager Ruben Amorim’s ability to recover.

He urged sweeping changes after another defeat left the club languishing 14th in the league.

Former Manchester United captain Wayne Rooney has said the club has lost its spirit and identity, adding that he has little faith in manager Ruben Amorim’s ability to turn things around.

Speaking on his BBC Sounds show on Monday, Rooney described Manchester United as “broken” and said he now goes to their matches expecting them to lose.

United’s 3-1 defeat at Brentford on Saturday was their 33rd league game under Amorim, with the club collecting just 34 points in that time and still unable to win back-to-back matches. Despite this, the board is reported to be standing by the manager. The result left United 14th in the Premier League table.

Rooney also criticized some players, saying some “don’t deserve to wear the shirt” and that the team “needs a new engine.” He urged the club to make “big changes” to restore its strength.

The former England striker, who won five league titles in 13 years at Old Trafford, said Manchester United must do “whatever it takes” to get back to its former glory.
