PDP Seeks Clarification on Okpebholo’s $250m Investment Deal
Edo PDP demands Governor Okpebholo explain a $250 million deal signed with EuroAfrica CCI.
Party questions transparency and vows scrutiny of projects and state finances at upcoming engagements.
The Edo State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party has called on Governor Monday Okpebholo to explain the $250 million agreement recently signed with the European African Chamber of Commerce and Industries.

In a statement on Sunday, the party’s Publicity Secretary, Daniel Osa-Ogbegie, said the announcement “has become a source of embarrassment to Edo people,” adding that the PDP would no longer tolerate a lack of transparency in the state’s financial affairs.
The state government had on September 25 announced that the governor signed the deal during the Edo State Global Investment Summit in Glasgow, Scotland. According to the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Fred Itua, the agreement with EuroAfrica CCI, covering 98 countries, sets up a framework for investment in Edo over the next three to five years.
However, the PDP maintained that the government must clarify the details of the deal. Osa-Ogbegie said the party would also scrutinize the abandonment of projects initiated under former Governor Godwin Obaseki and examine the administration’s financial management practices.
The party stressed that while it respects constituted authority, it will always side with the people. “Where government policies uplift people, we will support them. But if governance becomes oppressive, wasteful, or deceptive, we will stand with the people,” Osa-Ogbegie said.
He also challenged the All Progressives Congress, particularly its Publicity Secretary, Peter Uwadiae-Igbinigie, and the Commissioner for Information, Paul Ohonbamu, to prepare for what he described as “robust engagements.”
The statement came alongside the inauguration of the state’s new PDP executive committee. Tony Aziegbemi was returned as chairman, with Victor Enoghoma as deputy chairman and Henry Tenebe as secretary. Other members include Monday Osaigbovo (vice chairman, South), Adekunle Oboh (vice chairman, Central), Richard Anetekhia (vice chairman, North), Ogbeide Ifaluyu-Isibor (organising secretary), John Adodo (financial secretary), Benedicta Attoh (women leader), Paul Itua (legal adviser), Liberty Ogboh (treasurer), Austin Edosowan (youth leader), Obas Stephen (auditor), and Osa-Ogbegie as publicity secretary.
