FCT Police Vow Justice Over Killing of Arise TV Journalist
FCT Police Commissioner Ajao Adewale has mourned Arise News anchor Somtochukwu Maduagwu, killed in a robbery.
He condemned the act, vowing thorough investigation and swift justice against the perpetrators.

The Commissioner of Police for the Federal Capital Territory, CP Ajao S. Adewale, has expressed deep sympathy to the family, colleagues, and friends of Ms. Somtochukwu Christelle Maduagwu, a news anchor and producer with Arise News Channel, who was killed during a robbery at her home in Katampe, Abuja, in the early hours of Monday, September 29, 2025.

CP Adewale condemned the killing, describing it as a senseless act that should never occur in a civilized society. He pledged that the police command will pursue the case until justice is achieved.
In a statement by the FCT Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, the commissioner has ordered a thorough investigation into the crime. According to the release, intelligence and operational units have been deployed to track down and arrest those responsible.
The command also reassured residents of its commitment to protecting lives and preventing future incidents. The commissioner urged members of the public to assist investigators by promptly reporting suspicious activities. He further emphasized that raising alarms quickly can disrupt the plans of criminal elements.
