Abuja Is One of the Safest Places in Nigeria Says FCT Minister Wike
FCT Minister Nyesom Wike says Abuja remains one of Nigeria’s safest cities despite national security concerns.
He credited residents’ cooperation with authorities for sustaining peace and urged continued vigilance and unity.
As Nigeria marks its 65th Independence Anniversary, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has assured citizens that Abuja remains among the safest places to live in the country.

He attributed the city’s relative peace to cooperation between government authorities and residents who have embraced peaceful coexistence.
Wike noted that while security concerns persist in other parts of Nigeria, the FCT continues to stand out as a model of stability and unity. According to him, residents have deliberately chosen to live harmoniously despite occasional disturbances, which has helped sustain Abuja’s reputation as one of the most peaceful locations nationwide.
The minister praised citizens for their vigilance and partnership with security agencies, encouraging them to keep reporting suspicious activities and to support ongoing efforts to maintain law and order.
He further said that Abuja’s safety record demonstrates what is possible when government and the people work hand in hand. Wike urged residents to embrace the future with optimism, stressing that the FCT would remain a true reflection of Nigeria’s unity, resilience, and a secure place to call home.
