Actor Afeez Owo has praised his wife, Mide Martins, calling her supportive and far from “wicked.”
He said their 22-year marriage thrives on balance, faith, and deep mutual affection.
Actor and producer Afeez Owo has spoken about his marriage to fellow Nollywood star Mide Martins, describing her as a supportive partner and dispelling notions that she is strict or “wicked” either at home or in public.
In an interview with Oyinmomo TV, Afeez reflected on their 22 years together, saying their relationship has lasted because it is built on balance rather than extremes. He added that they have always relied on God’s faithfulness to keep their union strong.
He revealed that he and Mide even have unconventional pet names that reflect their closeness. “I call her Iya Alekuleja, and she calls me Baba Elere. Those aren’t the usual pet names like dear or honey, but it works for us because of the closeness we share,” he said.
On their long-lasting relationship, he added: “Our marriage isn’t the kind where the husband has to be overly strict or the wife has to remain overly calm; we’ve built it on balance, and God has been faithful to us. 22 years of marriage is no small thing. Ajoke, thank you for putting up with me.”
He stressed that his wife is not a wicked woman, whether at home or in public. Afeez and Mide Martins, who tied the knot in 2003, have two daughters together.
