Troops and NDLEA operatives in Taraba have intercepted 1,134 blocks of cannabis and arrested two suspects.
The men, disguised as police officers, were caught transporting the drugs in Toyota Hilux vehicles.
Troops of the Nigerian Army, working with operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), have arrested two men posing as police officers and intercepted two Toyota Hilux vehicles carrying 1,134 blocks of cannabis in Wukari Local Government Area of Taraba State.

The Acting Assistant Director of Army Public Relations for 6 Brigade, Lt. Umar Muhammad, disclosed the development in a statement on Tuesday, September 30, 2025. He identified the suspects as 71-year-old Monday George, a dismissed Assistant Superintendent of Police, and 41-year-old Ezeugo Destiny Uche. Both were dressed in mobile police uniforms at the time of arrest.

The operation, carried out under Operation Lafiya Nakowa in partnership with Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS), followed credible intelligence that led troops and NDLEA operatives to Takum Junction in Wukari. According to the Army, one of the Hilux vehicles was abandoned after its occupants fled on sighting security forces.

Investigations revealed that the cannabis had been loaded in Akure, Ondo State, and was being transported toward Adamawa State before interception. The seized vehicles and exhibits have since been handed over to the NDLEA office in Wukari for further investigation and prosecution.
Commander of 6 Brigade, Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, praised the joint effort of troops and NDLEA personnel, describing it as a major step in the fight against drug trafficking and other crimes in Taraba. He reiterated the Brigade’s determination to keep the state hostile to criminal elements and encouraged residents to continue sharing reliable information with security agencies to aid ongoing operations.
