Nigerian Woman Recounts Trekking Two Hours in Labour After Being Ignored by Ex
Morenikeji Igwe has recounted trekking in heavy rain to hospital while in labour.
She said her ex ignored her pleas, but she eventually delivered a healthy baby boy.
A Nigerian businesswoman, Morenikeji Igwe, has shared her traumatic experience during childbirth, recalling how she had to trek to the hospital under heavy rain after her ex-partner ignored her when she went into labour.

In a Facebook post on Tuesday, September 30, Morenikeji said the incident happened seven years ago when she was pregnant with her son, Ire.

“Ire will be 7 tomorrow and it reminded me of my traumatic experience during his labour,” she wrote.
According to her, her water broke early that morning, and she woke her ex to tell him she needed to get to the hospital. However, he paid no attention. With no bike or cab available, she trekked for nearly two hours in labour, drenched by the rain.
“When I entered the hospital with my dress soaked, I could literally see the pity in the nurses’ eyes. I have never felt so embarrassed in my life,” she recalled.
Despite the ordeal, she delivered a healthy baby boy 12 hours later. Reflecting on the experience as her son’s seventh birthday approaches, Morenikeji said she still finds it hard to believe what she went through that day.
