Oluwo of Iwo, Oba Abdulrasheed Akanbi, has accused Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, of plotting against him.
He alleged a conspiracy involving his former Canadian wife to frame and harm him.
The Oluwo of Iwo, Oba Abdulrasheed Adewale Akanbi, has alleged that the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, conspired with his former Canadian wife in an attempt to frame and kill him.
In a video posted on his official Facebook page, Emperor Abdulrasheed Adewale Akanbi Telu 1, on Tuesday, the Oluwo claimed the scheme was aimed at preventing him from revealing his role in the selection of Oba Ogunwusi as Ooni of Ife several years ago.
Explaining the recurring tensions between himself and the Ooni, the monarch alleged that Oba Ogunwusi wanted to silence him to conceal the story of his contribution to his emergence as Ooni.
According to him, he once supported the Ooni during his ascension to the throne but was later betrayed. He alleged that a woman was introduced into his life as part of a plot to entrap him.
“I once played a role in Ooni Adeyeye’s rise, but because he clings to traditional deities while God has elevated me beyond them, he has been working to bring me down,” Oba Akanbi said. “He didn’t want me to ever reveal the truth, so he arranged for a woman to be sent to me from Canada as part of a set-up.”
The Oluwo claimed the woman lived with him for three years, had a child whose paternity he now questions, and even tried to poison him twice. He further alleged that she was in contact with the Ooni and that there were attempts to secretly record and implicate him.
“After discovering what was going on, I sent her away. Ask Ooni Adeyeye what she was doing with him in a hotel I won’t name the hotel. He’s the one who rented her an apartment for her and the child,” he added.
