EFCC Nabs 92 Suspected Internet Fraudsters in Edo

The EFCC has arrested 92 suspects in Benin City over alleged involvement in internet fraud.

Officials said vehicles and mobile devices were recovered, with investigations ongoing before possible court arraignment.

Operatives of the Benin Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) have arrested 92 individuals suspected of engaging in internet fraud in Edo State.

The suspects were picked up during a coordinated sting operation carried out on Monday, September 29, 2025, across different parts of Benin City.

According to the EFCC, the arrests followed actionable intelligence linking the individuals to various cyber-related crimes. Officials noted that all due legal procedures were observed during the operation.

Items recovered from the suspects included 11 vehicles as well as several mobile devices believed to have been used in fraudulent activities.

Preliminary findings connected the group to multiple forms of online scams. The EFCC confirmed that once investigations are completed, the suspects will be arraigned in court.
