Asuzu, who also founded the Ikoro Ndigbo initiative and was widely known for his involvement in Igbo sociocultural advocacy, reportedly collapsed and died in the early hours of Wednesday.

Confirming his passing in a statement, the State Publicity Secretary, Chief MacDonald Amadi, said the party had lost one of its brightest minds and most dedicated members. He praised Asuzu as an individual who combined intellect with service and who left a mark on every assignment he took on.

From Umuma Isiaku in Ideato South Local Government Area, Asuzu had an impressive academic and professional background. He studied Theology and Political Science, and at the time of his death, he was working toward a doctoral degree.

Outside partisan politics, he was known as a theologian, entrepreneur, and cultural advocate. He founded the Igbo Intelligentsia Renaissance, a platform focused on cultural revival and intellectual dialogue, and also established ‘I Stand With ADC’, a coalition group that encouraged civic participation.

Before aligning with the ADC, Asuzu was an influential member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). Over the years, he gained recognition as a prolific writer, commentator on national issues, and visiting lecturer.

The party described him not only as a committed politician but also as a devoted husband, father, and mentor who influenced many people in both religious and secular spaces.

According to the ADC, his death is an immense loss to his immediate family, the party, and Nigerian society at large. Burial arrangements are expected to be made public soon.
