The Africa for Peace Sports Festival will kick off in Delta State on November 15 with ₦10m in prizes.
Organizers say the event will promote unity and discover new sports talents nationwide.
The second edition of the Africa for Peace Sports Festival will begin in Delta State on November 15, with organizers announcing a prize pool of ₦10 million alongside other consolation awards. The event is being held to mark the 2025 International Day for Tolerance.
Former Super Eagles midfielder, Edema Fuludu, has been named Chairman of the Local Organizing Committee. The festival’s initiator and Chairman of the Delta State Mini Football Association, Ambassador Sheriff Mulade, confirmed this in a statement released in Warri.
Mulade explained that the competition would help the Nigeria Mini Football Association identify fresh talent for the national team. He added that registration had opened and described the coming edition as “an unforgettable experience.”
The festival will feature mini football, snooker, Scrabble, table tennis, and gym contests, while chess and fuss-football will be played as demonstration games. According to organizers, the mini football tournament will be split into two groups: Under 25–45 and 46 and above, with strict enforcement of the rules.
Fuludu, while accepting his role, promised to work closely with participating teams to ensure a smooth and memorable event. He urged interested athletes to reach out to Ogo Clarkson, Secretary of the Delta State Mini Football Association.
The announcement comes just weeks after Delta State successfully hosted the ninth National Youth Games in Asaba, which ran from August 29 to September 6. The Games drew more than 6,000 athletes and officials from all states and the Federal Capital Territory, competing across 37 sports. Lagos State topped the medal table for the first time, while Delta and Edo followed in second and third place.
