Diddy Combs has been sentenced to 50 months in prison for prostitution-related offences.

Sean Combs, the world renowned music mogul better known as Diddy, has been sentenced to 50 months in prison after being convicted on prostitution-related charges.

Prosecutors had pushed for an 11-year term, but Judge Arun Subramanian handed down just over four years following an emotional daylong hearing on Friday. His lawyers had urged for a lighter sentence of 14 months, essentially time served, since the 55-year-old star has already spent more than a year in custody in Brooklyn.

Before sentencing, Combs addressed the court with an apology. “I am truly sorry,” he said. “I ask your honur for mercy. I beg your honor for mercy.”

In July, a jury cleared Combs of the most serious allegations, sex trafficking and racketeering, but found him guilty of two counts of transporting people across state lines for prostitution.

Singer Casandra Ventura, better known as Cassie and Combs’s former girlfriend, submitted a deeply emotional letter to the court. She accused him of years of physical, emotional, and sexual abuse, recalling that the court even watched footage of Combs kicking and beating her in 2016. She said she still suffers nightmares and flashbacks from the experiences.

Another woman, identified as Jane, also accused Combs of coercing them into sexual “freak-offs,” which he sometimes recorded.

Prosecutor Christy Slavik said Combs had shown only “qualified remorse” and argued that he still acted as though the law did not apply to him. She noted that he had even booked speaking engagements in Miami in anticipation of a lighter sentence, calling it “the height of hubris.”

In defence, attorney Nicole Westmoreland described Combs as a human being who had made mistakes, insisting he was remorseful and highlighting his influence as a figure of inspiration in the Black community.

Combs’s six children also pleaded for leniency. His eldest son, Quincy Brown, described him as “a changed man,” while one of his twin daughters, D’Lila, appealed tearfully:

“Please, please give our family the chance to heal together. Not as headlines but as human beings.”

Just a day earlier, fellow rapper 50 Cent reignited their long-running feud by writing a letter to Judge Subramanian. He called Combs “very dangerous” and claimed he had feared for his life multiple times over the years. Sharing the letter online, 50 Cent urged the judge to “consider the safety of the public before unleashing [Diddy] on them.

With the sentence now delivered, Combs faces over four years in prison. His case has become one of the most high-profile scandals in recent American music history, leaving both the entertainment industry and the public reflecting on accountability, power, and the consequences of abuse.
