Laide Bakare Clarifies Comment on Taking Daughter to Club

Actress Laide Bakare has defended taking her 17-year-old daughter to a nightclub, saying critics misunderstood her.

She clarified it was for exposure, not alcohol or reckless behaviour, as many assumed.

Nollywood actress Laide Bakare has addressed criticism that followed her recent revelation about taking her 17-year-old daughter to a nightclub.

The actress had earlier shared in an interview with content creator Mr Lilgaga that she introduced her daughter to nightlife at 17, adding that she liked the idea that her daughter would remember her as the person who did so.

Her comment drew backlash online, with many accusing her of encouraging underage drinking and clubbing.

In response, Bakare took to Instagram on Saturday to clarify her statement. She insisted she never introduced her daughter to alcohol but only took her to a club to give her some exposure to nightlife.

She wrote:

“No, pls, I didn’t do alcohol with @simlineboss, only club, and it’s just to give her a bit of exposure towards the future. I’m not as bad as you think.”

Bakare explained that her decision was more about preparing her daughter for future experiences rather than promoting bad habits. She maintains that her actions were misunderstood, framing them as an attempt at guidance rather than irresponsibility.
