The violent confrontation reportedly left the monarch injured, while his wife was beaten and stripped half-naked by the attackers. Prince Victor, the king’s son, was also said to have sustained injuries after being targeted by the mob.

Although the exact cause of the assault could not be immediately determined, residents revealed that disagreements between a section of the youths and the monarch had existed for some time. One community member, who asked not to be named, said tensions had been building, and if not for the quick response of security operatives, the situation might have escalated into a larger communal crisis.

Confirming the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer in Ondo State, Olayinka Ayanlade, said investigations were already underway. He assured that those behind the violence would be identified and brought to justice. Similarly, the Amotekun Corps Coordinator in the area, Omatayo Johnson, explained that security personnel intervened swiftly to restore calm and prevent further chaos.

Prince Victor narrated that he was humiliated by the mob, claiming they poured urine and other dirty substances on him during the attack. He also alleged that his mother was assaulted while his father, the Oba, was beaten by the unruly youths.

Speaking after the incident, Oba Bakare described the attack as part of a pattern of hostility he has faced from some youths in the town. He called the situation “unfortunate,” but commended the prompt intervention of security agencies, which, according to him, prevented the clash from degenerating further.

The attack has deepened concerns about recurring tensions in Idogun, with many residents calling for urgent dialogue to restore peace between the traditional institution and the community’s youth.
