Wike and Fubara Reunite with Rivers Elders in Port Harcourt
Rivers politics took a dramatic turn as Nyesom Wike and Governor Fubara met with state elders.
The gathering aimed to rebuild trust and strengthen political cooperation after months of tension.
The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, and Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, met with members of the Rivers State Elders Council in Port Harcourt on Saturday in what appeared to be a reconciliatory gathering.

The meeting, held amid efforts to strengthen political unity in the state, was attended by the Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Martins Amaewhule, and the Chairman of the Rivers State Elders Council, Chief Ferdinand Alabraba, among other political figures.
Photos from the meeting were shared on Sunday morning by Lere Olayinka, Senior Special Assistant on Public Communication and New Media to the FCT Minister. In his post on X, he wrote that the “political family is fully united,” referring to the renewed cooperation among Rivers leaders.
While details of the meeting were not disclosed, the event marks a significant political moment following Governor Fubara’s reinstatement on September 18, 2025, after a six-month state of emergency declared by President Bola Tinubu in March.
