Odumeje Calls Out Adeboye, Oyedepo, Urges Religious Leaders to Speak on Nigeria’s Economic Hardship

Odumeje has urged top clergymen Pastor E.A. Adeboye and Bishop David Oyedepo to speak out against Nigeria’s worsening economy.

He criticized their silence and called on youths to demand change.

Anambra-based preacher Prophet Chukwuemeka Ohanaemere, popularly known as Odumeje, has called out two of Nigeria’s most respected clergymen, Pastor E.A. Adeboye of the Redeemed Christian Church of God and Bishop David Oyedepo of Living Faith Church, urging them to use their voices to speak against the country’s worsening economic hardship.

In a viral video circulating online, Odumeje expressed frustration over what he described as the silence of influential religious leaders at a time when ordinary Nigerians are struggling with rising costs and poverty. He recalled how Christian leaders, including Adeboye and Oyedepo, had previously criticised the government during former President Goodluck Jonathan’s administration over fuel price hikes and economic challenges.

“Adeboye in the time of Goodluck complained that fuel price was too high. But today, things are worse, and nobody is talking. Everything is costly every blessed day, nobody cares anymore because everyone now sees bad government as normal life,” Odumeje said.

The clergyman also expressed concern that Nigeria, once regarded as a regional economic power, is now being mocked by neighboring countries.

“The worst government now is Nigeria. See where Ghana is insulting Nigerians. Their currency is even stronger than ours. We used to mock Ghana’s money before, but today, Ghana’s cedi can be compared to the dollar,” he added.

Odumeje also made a passionate appeal to Nigerian youths to take an active role in shaping the nation’s future.

“All youth arise, let us arise and take back our country from the businessmen that call themselves leaders. All those that were saying Ghana must go back then in Nigeria, it is Ghana that is now saying Nigeria must go in Ghana. When there are bad people in leadership, the children will be feeling it. When there are bad government and fathers, the children will not have respect,” he declared.

Speaking on President Bola Tinubu’s campaign promises, Odumeje criticized what he described as unfulfilled commitments on electricity and governance.

“When you vote for me, in four years if I do not give electricity for 24 hours, do not vote for me for second term… Now he is no more talking about it,” he said.

He then urged prominent pastors to take a clear stand and hold political leaders accountable.

“Pastors like Adeboye and Oyedepo should be talking about bad government. They should be talking about it strongly,” he stated.

Odumeje concluded by stressing that religious leaders and young Nigerians alike must raise their voices, warning that continued silence would only deepen hardship and allow poor governance to thrive.
