Angry Mob Lynches Three Men Accused of K!lling Woman in Edo

Three men accused of kidnapping and murder were lynched by a mob in Edo State’s Emu Orakwan community.

Residents said the suspects were linked to the recent k!lling of a local woman.

Three men were lynched by an angry mob in Emu Orakwan community, Esan South-East Local Government Area of Edo State, after they were accused of involvement in kidnapping and the murder of a woman.

The incident happened around 5 p.m. on October 6, 2025, when hunters and farmers reportedly spotted the suspects at Akabueze camp.

Security analyst Zagazola Makama said the men were believed to be connected to the killing of a woman identified as Mrs. Ogbonna, whose body was found on October 1 in a nearby farm with several stab wounds. The discovery had earlier caused widespread anger in the community.

Sources said that after receiving reports of the suspects’ presence, villagers and farmers gathered and attacked them before security agents could arrive.

One of the residents described the attack as a response to long-standing fear and frustration, saying the men had been “terrorising the area, abducting women and demanding money that most people could not afford.” Another resident said they decided not to wait for the authorities after recognizing the suspects as those responsible for Mrs. Ogbonna’s killing.

Military personnel and police officers later arrived at the scene and found the suspects already lifeless. They were taken to the General Hospital, where doctors confirmed them dead.

The bodies have been deposited at the Imiuwuguina Mortuary, and investigations are ongoing.
