#FreeNnamdiKanuNow: Sowore Appeals to Nigerians to Join Peaceful Rally for Nnamdi Kanu
Omoyele Sowore has urged Nigerians to join a peaceful march to Aso Rock demanding Nnamdi Kanu’s release.
He called on Southeast leaders to move beyond words and stand for justice.
Human rights activist and former presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore, has called on Nigerians to participate in a peaceful march to the Aso Rock Presidential Villa in Abuja to demand the release of Nnamdi Kanu, the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).

In a statement posted on his social media pages, Sowore urged political leaders, traditional rulers, religious figures, and citizens from the Southeast to go beyond public statements and take decisive action. He said that the time for promises and political talk was over, emphasizing that he was ready to put aside political and personal differences for the sake of justice and national unity.
According to Sowore, true leadership requires courage and sacrifice, and this cause represents an opportunity for Southeast leaders to stand firmly for what is right. He specifically mentioned prominent figures such as Anambra State Governor Chukwuma Soludo, Abia State Governor Alex Otti, Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe, and Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi, urging them to physically join the peaceful demonstration rather than stop at mere verbal support.
He explained that the planned march would be peaceful, lawful, and open for public participation. The goal, he said, is to demand fairness and justice for Nnamdi Kanu, who has been held in government custody despite several court rulings ordering his release. Sowore noted that Nigerians, regardless of region or political background, should unite to ensure that justice is served without bias.
The activist also appealed to citizens to remain calm and focused during the march, warning against any act of violence or provocation. He concluded by encouraging supporters to stay strong and resolute in their demand for Kanu’s freedom, stressing that peaceful resistance remains one of the most powerful tools for social change in a democratic society.
