Soludo Hails Teachers’ Impact, Pledges More Recruitment to Strengthen Anambra Education
Governor Charles Soludo has hailed Anambra teachers for their dedication and key role in shaping education.
He reaffirmed his government’s commitment to improving teacher welfare and sustaining quality learning in the state.
Anambra State Governor, Professor Chukwuma Charles Soludo, has praised teachers across the state for their dedication and vital role in shaping the future of education.

In a statement released on Wednesday by his Press Secretary, Christian Aburime, Soludo commended the contributions of teachers to nation-building, stressing that their work remains the foundation of every society. He said the progress of any community depends largely on the quality of its teachers and their commitment to nurturing the next generation.
“You are doing a fantastic job,” Soludo said. “Basic statistics show that Anambra is leading in many educational metrics. There is no educational system without the teachers; the future of a society is tied to the quality of its teachers and their teaching.”
The governor recalled that to address years of neglect in the education sector, his administration had recruited 8,115 teachers through a transparent and competitive process involving candidates from 18 states. He noted that since his assumption of office, literacy and numeracy levels in Anambra have improved by over 40 percent, with school enrollment also increasing significantly.
“When we came in, public education was completely neglected and abandoned. We vowed to restore it to its rightful place, and we are keeping that promise,” Soludo said. “We plan to hire even more teachers soon to sustain the momentum and continue improving the quality of education in the state.”
At the event, the Commissioner for Education, Professor Ngozi Chuma-Udeh, acknowledged the lasting influence of teachers in shaping society. She reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to supporting educators and ensuring that schools remain conducive for teaching and learning.
“These are the parents whose lives you have positively touched,” she said. “We recognize the vital role teachers play in building the future, and we will continue to support the governor’s efforts to enhance education across the state.”
The Chairman of the Post Primary Schools Service Commission, Professor Nkechi Ikediugwu, and the Chairman of the State Universal Basic Education Board, Dr. Vera Nwadinobi, both commended Governor Soludo’s achievements in the education sector over the past three and a half years. They noted that class sizes have expanded due to the free education policy, reflecting growing enrollment and trust in the public school system.
During the ceremony, groups including “The Patriots” and the Association of People Living with Disabilities endorsed Soludo and his deputy for a second term, citing their investment in education and social inclusion.
The event coincided with global recognition of World Teachers’ Day, whose 2025 theme, “Recasting Teaching as a Collaborative Profession,” emphasizes the importance of cooperation and adequate support for educators to achieve meaningful educational transformation.
