A man was k!lled in a fatal crash along Oda Road in Akure on Wednesday morning.
Witnesses said a speeding truck lost control and crushed him while he rode home.
A man tragically lost his life in a fatal accident along Oda Road in Akure, the Ondo State capital, on Wednesday morning, October 8, 2025. The victim, whose identity had yet to be confirmed at press time, was reportedly on his way home after dropping his children off at school when the incident occurred.
Eyewitnesses said the man was riding his motorcycle when a speeding truck suddenly lost control and rammed into him, k!lling him instantly. The impact of the collision was said to be so severe that his motorcycle was completely damaged, and the truck dragged it several metres before coming to a halt.
According to one resident who witnessed the tragedy, the crash happened within seconds, leaving everyone around in disbelief. “The man had just dropped his children at school and was returning home when the tipper crushed him. It was a very sad and disturbing sight. People rushed out immediately, but there was nothing anyone could do to save him,” the witness said.
The accident caused temporary gridlock on the busy road as sympathizers and motorists gathered at the scene. Many residents expressed anger and sorrow over the recurring cases of reckless driving in the area, especially by truck drivers who often speed without regard for other road users.
The body of the deceased was later evacuated by emergency responders and taken to a nearby hospital morgue. The truck driver reportedly fled the scene immediately after the incident, and efforts are ongoing by the police to track him down.
