Youths Protest Against CAC, Accuse Registrar General of Illegality and Misconduct

Thousands of youths nationwide have protested the CAC’s alleged illegal revocation of the National Youth Council’s certificate.

They accused the agency of political bias and vowed to continue demonstrations.

Thousands of young Nigerians have taken to the streets nationwide to protest what they describe as unlawful and politically driven actions by the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) against the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN).

The protests erupted after the CAC Registrar General, Hussaini Magaji, reportedly revoked the Council’s certificate of incorporation a move the demonstrators insist has no legal basis and was carried out in bad faith.

Eyewitnesses said more than 3,000 youths participated in the demonstrations, chanting solidarity songs and carrying placards demanding accountability. The protesters alleged that the Registrar General acted outside the law and had been compromised by vested interests seeking to destabilize the Council’s leadership.

They accused Magaji of frustrating President Bola Tinubu’s “Renewed Hope” agenda through arbitrary decisions that threaten youth inclusion and civic engagement.

In their statement, the protesters vowed to continue peaceful demonstrations across all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory for 30 consecutive days, until their demands are met.

“This is not just a leadership issue it is about ending impunity and lawlessness within the Corporate Affairs Commission,” one of the youth leaders said, accusing the agency of making key appointments without due process.

The group also referenced a subsisting ruling from the Federal High Court and a pending appeal case, both affirming that the CAC has no legal authority to delist the National Youth Council of Nigeria.

They further alleged that Magaji’s actions violate professional ethics and judicial precedents, calling on the Federal Government to intervene immediately to restore legality, respect court judgments, and protect the integrity of the Youth Council.
