NELFUND Reopens Student Loan Portal for 2024/2025 Academic Year
NELFUND has reopened its student loan verification portal to allow schools complete pending verifications.
The portal will remain open from October 12 to 14 for the 2024/2025 loan cycle.
The Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) has announced the reopening of its student loan verification portal to give tertiary institutions more time to complete the verification of their students for the 2024/2025 loan cycle.
According to a statement released in Abuja on Friday by the Fund’s Director of Strategic Communications, Oseyemi Oluwatuyi, the portal will be open from 12:00 a.m. on Sunday, October 12, and close by 12:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 14.
Oluwatuyi explained that the short extension is a final opportunity for institutions that have not yet finalized their student data verification process to do so. She said the exercise is an essential part of the ongoing loan application procedure meant to confirm the eligibility of students for financial support.
“Institutions are strongly advised to make full use of this final opportunity,” she said, adding that any school that fails to complete the verification within the stipulated time will forfeit participation in the current loan cycle.
She warned that such failure would mean affected students would miss out on accessing the loan, which is designed to support their education.
To promote transparency, Oluwatuyi noted that NELFUND will publish the names of institutions that do not meet the deadline.
She reaffirmed the Fund’s commitment to ensuring fair and inclusive access to higher education through effective management of the loan scheme, stressing that accountability and transparency remain central to its operations.
