Asherkine has revealed he stopped making binge-eating videos after the habit began harming his health and relationship with food.

He said excessive eating led to weight gain, fatigue, and high blood pressure.

Popular content creator Akinyemi Oluwaseun Omotayo, better known as Asherkine, has opened up about why he stopped creating binge-eating videos that once made him popular online.

Asherkine, who gained fame for his viral clips showing him eating large amounts of food in one sitting, revealed on X that he quit after realizing the videos were taking a toll on his health and relationship with food.

According to him, constantly eating excessively for content made him lose the sense of moderation and pushed him into unhealthy habits.

He wrote: “I never answered to why I paused making this type of food content; I genuinely enjoyed clearing up over 5 different meals regularly until my body told me. Even though I had an active lifestyle at the time and tried to stay fit, I lost the concept of moderation as mindless binge eating became the OOTD even when I wasn’t creating content. I wouldn’t stop eating until I started to feel abdominal discomfort.”

The content creator admitted that he began experiencing several health complications, including heart palpitations, weight gain, fatigue, and high blood pressure.

“Despite being full asl, I always wanted to keep eating! Gluttony had made its way. Aside from the general discomfort, heart palpitations, excess weight gain, irregular sleep, sneaky high blood pressure count, constant fatigue and so on… the mental battle to beat gluttony is probably the hardest thing to deal with,” he said.

Asherkine also advised people struggling with compulsive eating to take it seriously and seek help, stressing that gluttony is a powerful but underrated problem.

“I can’t express how disrespectful gluttony is and how much power it holds but it’s mad underrated. It’s 2 years after and I still chat to the pit in my tummy. If you struggle with compulsive eating disorder, shout out to you. Pay attention, I’m no health practitioner but don’t underplay it,” he added.

He concluded by saying he still plans to create food content but “definitely not in such volume.”
