Evangelist Uma Ukpai Dies at 80 After Decades of Global Ministry

The family of renowned evangelist Rev. Dr. Uma Ukpai has announced his passing at the age of 80.

In a statement, they described him as a faithful servant who dedicated over six decades to spreading the gospel and mentoring believers worldwide.

The family of globally respected preacher and founder of the Uma Ukpai Evangelistic Association, Rev. Dr. Uma Ukpai, has officially announced his passing.

In a statement titled “Glorious Transition,” the family confirmed that the revered evangelist died on October 6, 2025, at the age of 80.

Describing him as a “faithful soldier of the cross,” the family said Rev. Ukpai dedicated more than sixty years of his life to spreading the gospel through fiery evangelism, powerful teachings, and prophetic demonstrations that touched countless lives across the world.

“With hearts full of gratitude, we celebrate the triumphant homegoing of Rev. Dr. Uma Ukpai, who passed on to glory on October 6, 2025, at the age of 80. A faithful soldier of the cross has been called to rest,” the statement read in part.

It further highlighted his enduring impact as a spiritual leader, teacher, and mentor whose ministry influenced generations of believers in Nigeria and beyond. The family described him as a “spiritual general, a loving husband, a devoted father, and a mentor to many,” noting that his life exemplified faith, humility, and unwavering devotion to God’s calling.

While expressing sorrow over his physical departure, the family said they take solace in the fact that he lived a purposeful life and has completed his divine mission. “We rejoice that he has finished his race and is now resting in eternal praise,” they said.

According to the statement, details of the burial and other funeral activities will be announced later.

The family concluded with gratitude to God for the evangelist’s extraordinary life and lasting legacy, quoting Philippians 1:21: “To live is Christ, and to die is gain.”
