Tacha Explains Why She Chose Nigeria for Her Guinness World Record Attempt
Tacha said she hosted her Guinness World Record attempt in Nigeria to showcase the country’s beauty industry.
She explained that Nigeria gave her the energy and support she needed for the challenge.
Reality TV star and entrepreneur Natasha Akide, popularly known as Tacha, has revealed why she decided to host her Guinness World Record attempt for the most makeovers in 24 hours in Nigeria instead of the United Kingdom as originally planned.

Speaking during a short break on Sunday with influencer Egungun at her ongoing Tacha Beauty Festival in Lagos, Tacha said she wanted to showcase Nigeria’s creativity and promote the country’s beauty industry on a global stage.
“The plan was London. We already had plans, we had a brand that wanted to sponsor us, NYX. But I said, London is not that country that will give me the vibe I want. Then I thought, see my people, they are here. It always makes sense to carry your country along. At this point now, I’m putting the Nigerian beauty industry on a freaking global map,” she said excitedly.
The media personality revealed that she had been planning the record attempt for two years and decided the time was finally right to make it happen.
Tacha, who rose to fame during the Big Brother Naija Pepper Dem season, began her 24-hour marathon on Saturday night, aiming to complete 150 makeovers. By early Sunday morning, she had already surpassed the previous record of 113 makeovers within 24 hours, completing 115 in just 12 hours.
The record-breaking attempt is part of the three-day Tacha Beauty Festival, held from October 10 to 12 at the John Randle Centre for Yorùbá Culture & History, celebrating beauty, culture, and resilience.
Tacha also dedicated the feat to her late mother, saying her passion for excellence was driven by deeply personal motivation. Despite brief power interruptions during the session, she maintained her momentum, completing each makeover within minutes before sending models to a photo booth and runway for display.
