Lagos Trains 600 Students, Graduates in Free Digital Skills Program
The Lagos State Government has launched a free Software Quality Assurance training for 600 students and graduates.
Officials say the program aims to equip youths with digital skills needed to thrive in today’s tech-driven world.
The Lagos State Government has begun a free Software Quality Assurance training program for 600 students and recent graduates to equip young people with practical digital skills for the modern job market.
The initiative is being implemented by the Office of the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Students Union Affairs (Tertiary Education) in partnership with Korrekt Tech, a technology firm that provides Quality-as-a-Service solutions.
The training, which began on October 11, is taking place simultaneously at three locations, the Lagos State University of Science and Technology in Ikorodu, the Lagos State University of Education in Otto/Ijanikin, and the Lagos State College of Health Technology in Yaba. It will run for three consecutive Saturdays.
Speaking about the project, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Students Union Affairs, Kappo Samuel, said the program reflects Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s focus on education, technology, and youth empowerment.
“This initiative is more than just training; it’s a launchpad for tech excellence,” Kappo said. “It is one of the ways Governor Sanwo-Olu is preparing young people in Lagos for the future of work.”
He explained that the world is evolving rapidly through technology, and Lagos youths must be equipped to compete globally. The program, he said, targets tertiary institution students and fresh graduates who are eager to build careers in the digital sector.
Kappo also expressed satisfaction with the strong interest shown by participants and noted that more training sessions are being planned. “The enthusiasm has been overwhelming. While we couldn’t take everyone in this phase, more impactful programmes are on the way. The governor remains committed to helping Lagos youths gain relevant global skills,” he said.
The Software Quality Assurance course will help participants understand digital product testing, quality control, and the fundamentals of service delivery in technology-based industries. The skills, organizers say, will make them more employable and capable of contributing to Lagos State’s growing digital economy.
