The event, which took place on Tuesday, October 14, 2025, at Kasaisa village near the Gujba–Maiduguri new bypass, was attended by top government officials, security agencies, and community leaders. It was presided over by the NDLEA Chairman, Brigadier General Mohammed Buba Marwa (rtd), and supported by the Governor of Yobe State, Mai Mala Buni.

The destroyed substances included 6,791.249 kilograms of cannabis sativa, 1,375.65 kilograms of psychotropic substances, 0.04 kilograms of cocaine, and 0.012 kilograms of heroin. Brigadier General Marwa commended the Yobe State Command for its dedication and consistency in combating drug-related crimes, noting that the destruction of such a large quantity of illicit drugs sends a strong message to traffickers and abusers alike. He stressed that the NDLEA under his leadership would continue to intensify its nationwide efforts to rid the country of drug syndicates.

Governor Mai Mala Buni, who was represented at the event, applauded the agency’s efforts and assured continued government support in the fight against drug abuse. He noted that drug addiction had contributed to rising insecurity, moral decay, and mental health challenges among the youth, calling for a collective effort to tackle the problem.

Since its establishment in 2003, the NDLEA Yobe State Command has made significant strides, seizing a total of 16,011.13 kilograms of various illicit substances, arresting 2,345 suspects, and securing 349 convictions.

The agency urged residents to support its campaigns through community awareness, responsible parenting, and prompt reporting of suspicious activities to law enforcement authorities.
