Cosmas Maduka Clarifies “Money Na Water” Remark, Says He Wasn’t Referring to Cubana Chiefpriest

Coscharis boss Cosmas Maduka says his “money na water” comment wasn’t aimed at Cubana Chiefpriest.

He clarified he was only addressing societal values and wished the entertainer well.

Billionaire businessman and founder of Coscharis Motors, Cosmas Maduka, has clarified that his recent remarks on Nigeria’s “declining value system” were not directed at nightlife entrepreneur Cubana Chiefpriest.

The controversy began after a video surfaced in which Maduka said he had “never met a truly wealthy person who says ‘money na water.’” Many assumed the statement was aimed at Cubana Chiefpriest, who popularised the phrase as a symbol of wealth and carefree living.

Responding swiftly, Chiefpriest fired back on social media, claiming Maduka was not in the same financial class as billionaires like Aliko Dangote or Femi Otedola, and insisted that the phrase “money na water” represents abundance, not wastefulness.

However, in a clarification shared via WhatsApp to entrepreneur Stephen Akintayo, Maduka stated that he had never met Chiefpriest and was only speaking generally about misplaced societal values.

“I never had him in mind when I said what I believed was a wrong value system we have embraced. I respect his views because he is entitled to his opinion, and I wish him the best of life. May God bless him,” Maduka said.
