Fubara Cancels N134bn Rivers Secretariat Contract, Orders Refund from CCECC
Rivers Governor Siminalayi Fubara has cancelled the N134 billion contract for rebuilding the state secretariat.
He directed CCECC to refund N20 billion earlier released and ordered a review of the project.
Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara has revoked the N134 billion contract previously awarded for the reconstruction of the state secretariat complex in Port Harcourt.

The decision was reached during the State Executive Council meeting held on Thursday and presided over by the governor.
The contract, which was initially granted to the China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation (CCECC) by the former sole administrator, Vice Admiral Ikot Ete Ibas (retd), came under review following concerns over its execution during the period of emergency rule.
After reviewing the terms, the council directed CCECC to return the N20 billion mobilisation fee already released for the project.
In the same meeting, the government also approved the creation of a six-member committee led by Deputy Governor Professor Ngozi Odu. The committee is tasked with identifying and recommending suitable sites for the construction of Computer-Based Test centres across the state to enhance external examination processes.
