Governor Sheriff Oborevwori has relaunched the Delta State Security Trust Fund to boost safety and investment.

The new framework attracted major donations, including ₦10 billion from Tantita Security boss Tompolo.

The relaunch ceremony, held at Government House in Asaba, was attended by top industry leaders, security officials, and senior government functionaries. Among them were Aigboje Aig-Imoukhuede, Group Chairman of Access Holdings Plc, who chaired the event; Zenith Bank Founder and Chairman Jim Ovia, who served as the Special Guest of Honour; and Tantita Security Services Limited Chairman, High Chief Government Ekpemupolo (Tompolo), who led contributions with a ₦10 billion donation.

Governor Oborevwori explained that although the Security Trust Fund was established by law in 2013, his administration decided to restructure it to ensure long-term funding for security operations and complement government expenditure in that area.

He said the revamped fund would focus on acquiring advanced surveillance systems, patrol vehicles, and communication tools, while also providing training and logistical support for security officers and local vigilante groups across all 25 local government areas.

Oborevwori noted that effective security requires joint responsibility, stating that peace and safety are essential foundations for economic and social development.

“Maintaining security is not a task for the government alone it demands collective participation,” he said. “When safety is guaranteed, progress follows, businesses expand, and investors gain confidence to operate. This initiative is our united effort toward ensuring peace, safety, and prosperity in Delta State.”

In his remarks, Aigboje Aig-Imoukhuede described the relaunch as a pivotal step for Delta State and commended Governor Oborevwori’s leadership for creating an environment conducive to investment and growth.

“Our governor leads by example; he sets goals and delivers results,” he said.

The Access Holdings chairman announced a personal contribution of ₦100 million from himself and his wife, Ofure, adding that with broad participation from stakeholders, the trust fund could mobilize as much as ₦100 billion for security development in the state.
