AY Makun Warns Nigerians Against Envying Celebrities Living Fake Lives

Comedian AY has warned Nigerians not to envy celebrities who fake luxury lives online.

He said many social media posts are staged, urging fans to focus on real growth instead.

Popular comedian and actor Ayo Makun, better known as AY, has cautioned Nigerians against envying celebrities who flaunt fake luxury lifestyles on social media.

In a video shared on his Instagram page on Thursday, AY described social media as a “movie set” where many people pretend to be richer or happier than they really are.

According to him, some influencers and celebrities pose beside cars they don’t own, take photos in hotel lobbies pretending they live there, or wear borrowed outfits just to appear wealthy.

“Many of these celebrities you envy are living on borrowed wigs, borrowed outfits, and borrowed lifestyles. Some take pictures in hotel lobbies and call them their new homes, while others pose with cars that don’t belong to them. Social media is like a movie set; not everything you see online is real,” he said.

The comedian, who recently addressed rumors about his marriage, explained that this culture of pretense has pushed many young people into depression, unnecessary competition, and fake living.

He urged fans to stop comparing their progress to what they see online, advising them to focus on hard work and personal growth instead.

“Don’t let someone’s highlight reel make you feel like your story isn’t moving fast enough. Grow at your own pace and focus on building something real,” he said.
