UNIMED Installs Campus-Wide 24-Hour Internet to Boost Learning
UNIMED has started installing 24-hour internet across its campuses and hostels.
The project aims to boost digital learning and make UNIMED globally competitive.
The University of Medical Sciences (UNIMED), Ondo State, has begun installing a 24-hour internet facility across its campuses and hostels to improve access to digital resources for students and staff.

The Public Relations Officer of the university, Isaac Oluyi, said in a statement that the initiative aims to cut communication and data costs while promoting faster and more reliable internet connectivity for the university community.
Oluyi explained that the project, undertaken in partnership with Sam Smith Global Company Limited, is part of the new Vice-Chancellor, Professor Ebunoluwa Adejuyigbe’s efforts to make UNIMED a globally competitive institution.
According to him, the facility will offer uninterrupted internet service, round-the-clock network engineering support, and a direct connection to the international internet backbone. It will also enable real-time performance monitoring, centralized management of users, and a more secure system for information sharing within the university.
Professor Adejuyigbe described the initiative as a crucial step toward positioning UNIMED as a modern centre for learning, research, and innovation. She stated that access to fast and reliable information gives any academic institution an edge in global competitiveness.
She added that her administration is committed to transforming UNIMED into a model university for medical and health sciences education through the adoption of cutting-edge technology.
