The Premier League side announced the decision in an official statement released about 20 minutes after the final whistle at the City Ground. The club said the move followed a series of poor results and disappointing displays under the Australian coach. “Nottingham Forest Football Club can confirm that Ange Postecoglou has been relieved of his duties as head coach with immediate effect. The club will make no further comment at this time,” the statement read.

Postecoglou’s brief spell in charge saw Forest play eight matches, with six ending in losses. His time also included an early Carabao Cup elimination to Championship side Swansea City, where the team threw away a late lead to lose 3-2, and two draws against Burnley and Real Betis.
