ADC Cries Out Over Rising Intimidation of Members in Lagos
ADC has accused political thugs of att@cking its members and disrupting lawful meetings across Lagos.
The party urged security agencies to act swiftly to protect democracy and ensure political freedom.
The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has expressed deep concern over the growing harassment and intimidation of its members across Lagos State, alleging that political thugs have been disrupting its lawful activities.

The party said the situation has made it difficult for members to organize meetings or participate freely in political gatherings in several local government areas.
Speaking at a press briefing held in Festac Town, the chairman of ADC’s local government chairmen forum in Lagos State, Ugochukwu Anaere, said members from various parts of the state had reported repeated threats and assaults. He noted that despite informing relevant authorities, including the Nigeria Police Force and the Department of State Services (DSS), no meaningful action had been taken to curb the att@cks.
“Almost all our members from the 20 local government areas have experienced one form of intimidation or another. We have reported these issues to security agencies, but the threats keep recurring,” Anaere said.
He warned that the ADC would no longer tolerate any form of harassment or violence against its members or leaders, stressing that the party would defend its constitutional right to operate freely.
Anaere further urged security agencies to investigate and prosecute individuals or groups making inciting statements that could endanger peace ahead of the 2027 general elections.
He appealed to the federal and state governments to ensure that all political parties are allowed to campaign and mobilize supporters without fear. According to him, protecting voters’ rights and ensuring equal participation in the democratic process are vital to maintaining peace and fairness in Lagos and across the country.
