2026 World Cup Playoffs: Super Eagles Cancel US Friendlies with Venezuela and Colombia
The Super Eagles’ friendly matches against Venezuela and Colombia in the United States have been cancelled.
The NFF said the dates clash with Nigeria’s 2026 World Cup playoff games in Morocco.
The Super Eagles’ planned international friendly matches against Venezuela and Colombia in the United States have been called off.

The games, originally scheduled for November 14 and 18 in Houston and New York, were cancelled because the dates clash with Nigeria’s participation in the African playoffs for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which will take place in Morocco.
An official of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) confirmed the development, saying that a provision had been included in the agreement to allow the matches to be cancelled if the team qualified for the playoffs.
“We had a clause in the contract covering this situation, so we will not be going ahead with the games,” the NFF official told ESPN.
According to the official, the national team’s focus is now on preparing for the crucial playoff fixtures and securing qualification before shifting attention to the intercontinental playoffs.
