My Friends, Not Me, Gave Sarah Martins ₦20 Million, Seyi Tinubu Clarifies
Seyi Tinubu has clarified that he did not personally donate ₦20 million to actress Sarah Martins.
He said the money came from his friends, adding that he supports empathy but upholds law and order.
Seyi Tinubu, son of President Bola Tinubu, has addressed reports claiming he personally donated ₦20 million to Nollywood actress Sarah Martins after she was harassed for cooking on the street.

In a statement shared via his social media page, Seyi clarified that the donation was made by his friends, not him directly. He explained that their intention was to assist the actress in securing a proper business space, not to encourage any form of lawbreaking.
“Their intention, I believe, was to help her secure a proper space to run her business, not to undermine the law. I appreciate their kindness and concern,” he stated.
However, Seyi Tinubu stressed that while the gesture came from a place of empathy, he does not condone any act that violates the laws of Lagos State. “Lagos thrives on order, and Nigeria’s strength depends on our collective respect for law and order. Empathy and patriotism must always go together,” he added.
His clarification followed social media backlash after reports falsely claimed he personally gifted the actress ₦20 million.
