Tension in Ekiti as Thugs Set ADC Secretariat Ablaze in Ado-Ekiti
Suspected political thugs have set fire to the African Democratic Congress Secretariat in Ado-Ekiti.
The late-night attack destroyed documents and equipment, with the party blaming rivals for the incident.
Tension has gripped Ekiti State after the African Democratic Congress (ADC) Secretariat in Ado-Ekiti was set on fire by suspected political thugs believed to be linked to a rival party.

The attack, which reportedly took place late Monday night, completely razed the building, destroying office equipment, campaign materials, and important party documents.
A video shared on the party’s official Facebook page captured the scene of destruction flames consuming the structure, broken windows scattered across the ground, and charred billboards lying in the debris.
In a statement released on Tuesday, the ADC described the incident as a deliberate attempt by political opponents to silence its growing influence in the state. The party said the perpetrators were frightened by the unity and growing structure of the ADC, adding that such violence would only make its members more resolute.
“The destruction of our secretariat is an act of desperation from those who fear our progress,” the statement read in part. “Rather than discourage us, it has made us more determined to continue our mission in Ekiti.”
Sources said the attack occurred just hours before the ADC’s scheduled Reconfiguration and Affirmation Ceremony for its ward, local government, senatorial, and state executives.
Despite the setback, party leaders maintained that their movement remains strong and that no amount of intimidation would stop them from pursuing their political objectives.
“Our focus is unshaken and our purpose remains intact,” the statement added.
As of press time, the Ekiti State Police Command had not issued an official response or confirmed any arrests in connection with the incident.
