Delta Police Arrest Officer for Shooting at Moving Vehicle in Asaba
The Delta State Police Command has arrested an officer seen shooting at a moving vehicle in Asaba.
Authorities condemned his actions as unprofessional and confirmed that disciplinary measures are underway.
The Delta State Police Command has arrested one of its officers for shooting at a moving vehicle in Asaba.

The arrest came less than 24 hours after a viral video showed the officer attempting to forcibly stop a vehicle whose driver allegedly fled the scene of a hit-and-run incident.
Police spokesperson Bright Edafe confirmed the arrest in a statement on Tuesday, describing the officer’s conduct as unprofessional and contrary to the ethics of the force.
According to Edafe, the command strongly condemns the officer’s action, noting that no policeman has the right to open fire without following the provisions of Force Order 237, which outlines the rules on the use of firearms.
Commissioner of Police, CP Olufemi Abaniwonda, has ordered the commencement of internal disciplinary proceedings against the officer, despite claims that he was responding to a hit-and-run case.
The commissioner assured the public that the erring officer will face appropriate sanctions under the Police Act and relevant regulations, adding that the command will not tolerate misconduct of any kind.
