Rita Daniels Denies Forcing Daughter Regina to Marry Ned Nwoko
Rita Daniels has revealed she never supported her daughter Regina’s marriage to Senator Ned Nwoko.
She said Regina made the decision herself, insisting on marrying the billionaire politician.
Rita Daniels, the mother of Nollywood actress Regina Daniels, has revealed that she never supported her daughter’s marriage to billionaire politician Senator Ned Nwoko, contrary to widespread public belief.

Speaking in an interview with BBC News Igbo published on October 3, Rita said that it was Regina who insisted on marrying Ned, while she herself was initially unaware that the two were even in a relationship.
“When Regina got married, and the world was saying I was the one who forced her to marry a much older man. They said I carried her and sold her to an elderly man,” she said. “What they did not know is that even I did not know when they started the relationship. With everything that was going on, I was the last person to know they were in a relationship.”
Rita explained that she became concerned when Regina, who had always been respectful, suddenly began responding to her with unusual firmness. According to her, the actress insisted that the only person she had ever introduced as her potential husband was Ned Nwoko, a revelation that made Rita realize her daughter was determined to go through with the marriage.
She also noted that Nwoko did not formally approach her about marriage until after his political campaign, adding that she felt powerless to stop the union once Regina made up her mind. Faced with the situation, Rita said she chose to stand by her daughter rather than risk estranging her.
Although the decision attracted public criticism, Rita maintained that her focus was on ensuring her daughter’s peace of mind rather than responding to rumors. She said she preferred to take the blame herself if it meant shielding Regina from public ridicule and ensuring stability in the family.
