Sowore Meets Nnamdi Kanu’s Lawyer, Brother in Kuje Prison, Calls for Their Release
Activist Omoyele Sowore has visited Kuje Prison to meet Nnamdi Kanu’s lawyer, Aloy Ejimakor, and his brother Emmanuel.
He said they remain in high spirits despite detention and vowed to keep pushing for their release.
Human rights activist Omoyele Sowore has shared an update following his visit to Kuje Prison, where he met with Nnamdi Kanu’s lawyer, Aloy Ejimakor, and his brother, Emmanuel Kanu. The meeting took place on Wednesday after both men, along with Barrister Wisdom Okere and several others, were detained by security operatives during the #FreeNnamdiKanuNow protest in Abuja.

The group was arrested on Monday and later transferred to Kuje Prison. In a Facebook post, Sowore said he had a “productive meeting” with the detainees, noting that despite their ordeal, they remain strong and determined. He expressed confidence that efforts were underway to secure their release soon.
“Despite the challenges they face, they are all in high spirits as we push for their release,” Sowore wrote. He also condemned the conduct of the Federal Capital Territory Police Command, alleging that officers tear-gassed the protesters even after they had dispersed.
Describing the incident as unacceptable, the activist accused the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, of poor leadership and demanded accountability for the unlawful treatment of peaceful protesters. Sowore vowed to remain active in the ongoing campaign for justice and the release of Nnamdi Kanu.
