UBA Inducts 700 Young Graduates Into Workforce Under Leadership Program
UBA has inducted over 700 young professionals through its Graduate Management Accelerated Program.
Chairman Tony Elumelu urged them to uphold excellence and become future leaders driving Africa’s growth.
United Bank for Africa (UBA) Plc has welcomed more than 700 young professionals into its workforce through the Graduate Management Accelerated Program (GMAP), a leadership initiative aimed at nurturing future African leaders.

The program, which started three years ago, has trained over 4,000 young talents across different areas of banking and finance. It focuses on developing their technical knowledge, leadership ability, and professional confidence through practical experience and mentorship.
Speaking at the 2025 GMAP graduation ceremony held at the Landmark Events Centre in Lagos, UBA Group Chairman Tony Elumelu urged the graduates to embrace the bank’s culture of excellence, integrity, and service. He described them as the new “lions and lionesses” of the UBA tribe and reminded them that success requires focus and discipline.
Elumelu said he was proud of the bank’s commitment to empowering African youth, noting that he began his own career journey in a similar way. He encouraged the inductees to “stay driven and prove that African institutions can stand tall on the global stage.”
Representing the Group Managing Director, Oliver Alawuba, Deputy GMD Chukwuma Nweke congratulated the new recruits and urged them to be creative, responsible, and dedicated ambassadors of UBA. He noted that they were joining a network of over 30,000 employees spread across 20 African countries and major international offices.
Some of the graduates described the program as life-changing. Ayomitide Ebo called it “a rigorous but rewarding journey,” while Mary Olatibosun said joining UBA had always been her dream. From Kenya, Rosemary Morioki added that the training prepared them to contribute innovative ideas that will move Africa’s global bank forward.
