Bella Shmurda Decries Soaring Cost of Music Promotion in Nigeria

Bella Shmurda has lamented the rising cost of music promotion in Nigeria, calling it a major challenge for artists.

He said shooting music videos now costs at least N20 million each.

Nigerian singer Abiola Ahmed Akinbiyi, popularly known as Bella Shmurda, has expressed concern over the increasing cost of promoting music, saying it has become a major challenge for many artists in the industry.

Speaking during a recent interview with Naija FM Lagos, he lamented that the high cost of promotion has discouraged several musicians from releasing new projects, especially full-length albums.

He explained that producing and promoting an album is far more expensive than pushing a single, as artists have to promote multiple tracks simultaneously. “To release an album, you need a huge budget, unlike singles. Because for albums, you’re promoting 10 to 14 songs all at once. It’s a lot,” he said.

Bella Shmurda further disclosed that the cost of shooting music videos has skyrocketed, with the minimum price now around N20 million. “These days, the least you can spend on a music video is N20 million. So how many artists can afford to shoot five videos?” he asked.
