FCT Police Redeploy DPO After Viral Video Shows Him Slapping Young Man

FCT Police Commissioner Miller Dantawaye has redeployed the Ushafa DPO after a viral ass@ult video.

The officer was recalled for investigation following public outrage over his misconduct.

The Commissioner of Police in the Federal Capital Territory, CP Miller G. Dantawaye, has ordered the immediate redeployment of the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Ushafa following a viral video showing the officer slapping a young man.

The incident, which occurred on Wednesday, October 22, and was widely shared on X, prompted swift action from the police leadership.

In a statement by the FCT Command’s spokesperson, SP Josephine Adeh, the Commissioner condemned the officer’s behavior, describing it as a clear violation of the standards of discipline and professionalism expected from members of the Nigeria Police Force. She confirmed that the officer has been recalled to the State Headquarters while an internal investigation is ongoing.

According to Adeh, CP Dantawaye has directed that appropriate administrative measures be taken and warned that any form of misconduct or abuse of power will attract serious disciplinary action.

The Commissioner further urged officers to conduct themselves with civility and respect in the line of duty, emphasizing that mutual respect between law enforcement and citizens is vital for effective community policing.
